After a trip out shopping, Dylan gets in the house and starts saying "where my Rockin'Coon?"

PARDON???

He repeats again, same pronunciation.....

"WHERE MY ROCKIN'COON?"

finally something twigs with me...

The
RACCOON
that I bought from Micheal's 20 minutes earlier.
Because it was on sale in November for next to nothing
A doggy the size of Dylan
dressed up for halloween
wearing a mask
the ROCKIN'COON.

"he's in the garage Dylan, I'll go get him" I say.

Dyl's response?

" I luff him"

Halloween !

Totally unedited, throw them up there so the grandparents can see- Halloween pics !

Daddy thought I was crazy when I said Dylan was going to carve a pumpkin with a drill......
But it was a good opportunity for him to participate in an activity he normally wouldn't be able to....
And it was something we'd never done....
 And he loved it....

 Turned out pretty good
 Halloweening at the mall...

Into the warmer Lion suit for outdoor trick or treating....
With his best girl...

And one of his best buddies....
Even the scary houses weren't that scary....
And the two buddies waiting for the fireworks to start.
What a great night we had !!!

Mat and I have spent many many MANY days in Waterton.
It has to rank as one of our top places to be.
I always say I want to retire there, but actually...
I want to win the lottery and spend my summers there.

And then go back for a week at a time for a really harsh, cold, isolated winter.
Where you wander the streets, and pass more animals then people.
Where you can't pop into a corner store, because EVERYTHING is closed.
With the exception of one hotel.

But when we were in Alberta, the sun was shining, and we took Dylan to Waterton for the first time.
He was thrilled that they had a water park.
Who wouldn't like to play in the shadow of the amazing mountains?

Napping at Grandma and Grandpa's house

Riiiiight !!!

What Dylan does when he is supposed to be sleeping.

I might also add this was under grandparent and father's watch.

haha

they said they heard some banging.

I'll have to ask Mat again what were Dylan's exact words when they went in the room.

Note-
stuffed animals under bed
bed rail off
bedding stripped
curtains open
Yes- we are back from our holiday.
No- I don't have tons of pics to share.

I'm not exactly sure why, but this time when we went to Calgary to visit the grandparents, my camera didn't come out much.  Which was really silly, since this vay-cay was really ALL about Dylan.  We took him to Coffee and Scream which he loves, Riley Park Wading Pool, Tommy K Play, the play places in Market Mall, Cross Iron Mills, and to many parks in Calgary.  The highlight for him was a trip on the C-Train.  We rode Calgary Transit just for him to experience the train.  The trip was really all about Dylan- but I'm lacking photos.  I've been in a bit of a photo rut lately.  That combined with the fact that I'm finding that sometimes bringing my Big Gurl Camera hinders me from playing with Dylan, and makes me fixated on babysitting my camera when I'm not using it.  So I left it at home.

And came back with very few images.

I almost didn't take it to the wading pool on the last day it was open.
I got a few images, but again, not lots.  I think I'm in a bit of a photographic rut.   Here are a few from that day.

Who needs a haircut???

It's been a busy week, so the posts have not been as consistent as I could have hoped for.

The weather has been nice here, except for Wednesday when we had a crazy wild storm in the evening !

So I'll title this post

One Summer Evening in our Backyard

Daddy reads, Dylan reads....

Naked Bike Riding (which was preceded by Naked sprinkler running)

Wild Flowers in our backyard.

appreciating my little man

As an at home mom- I see almost everything that my child sees.  I know everything he's doing, saying, and is exposed to.  Because I'm with him so often, sometimes although I see him, I fail to notice.  I was reading a blog by my favorite blogger who has a son a bit younger then mine, and started thinking about my boy.  I change so many diapers a day, offer so many suggestions, tell him no so many times, wish that he was out of a stage, wish he did something, or didn't do something.  But as he moves on and move into a new stage, there are lots of little things I want to remember, and know i'll miss.

I'll miss the chubby toddler double chin.
and the very few quiet moments I get from this rambunctious little man.....
The diaper bum, and long lean little boy legs....
The sweet round little tummy that peeks out....
The busyness that is really curiosity and zest for life but sometimes mistaken for negative terms such as out of control and wild....

The upside downs and various antics that he thinks are so funny.....

The toothbrushing battles that even the cat rolls his eyes at.....

It's important to document and remember this stuff in a positive light even when it seems to be a negative.  I'm certain that I'll miss these things when he's older.
